Yikes....

It's been a little bit since I updated, hasn't it......Ah well.
Between learning new knitting skills and an influx of yarn, my Gaelic studies have been a bit stunted as of late. Combine that with hardly any computer access (fiancee is the computer hogging gamer of DOOM), and it's a bit hard to get in good studying time. But, I am learning, slowly. Mostly just words for now, I'll list some of the words I know (and hope I have the spelling right......)
Bean, which means woman
Cailin, which means girl
Fear, which means man
Bord, which means table

And a few others that I can't remember the spelling for, and don't want to look at the website to see cause that might make me cheat slightly. I'm also listening to Gaelic music when I can, to get a feel for the accent and pronunciation.

Well, thats all for now, off to write down some lessons to study!

Some links....

I got these from a lady on Ravelry, after I posted that I was going to learn gaelic. I figured it would be a good idea to condense the list and post them here.

Here they are!

http://www.irishdictionary..ie/home
^ This is an online dictionary. You can translate Gaelic to English, or the other way 'round.

http://www.daltai.com
^  Has grammar, proverbs and the like.

http://www.gaeilge.ie
^ This is one of the official sites promoting the learning and usage of Gaelic. You can pick whether you want the site to be in Gaelic or English, which will be really useful later!

http://talkirish.com/irishcourse/
^ This is a link to a program that you can buy. Haven't looked into it in detail, but it comes with good recommendations from the person I got these links from.

http://www.litriocht.com
^ This site sells books and stuff in Gaelic. Good for if you're at the stage where you would like to start actively using the language.

There are more, but I'll save some for a later post.

In other news, hopefully soon I'll be to the point where I can start writing my posts partially in Gaelic. Anyone that is following me, don't be shy about posting comments in Gaelic, especially if you know more of the language than me. It can be a learning exxperience for both of us!

Imma learn Gaelic

Yep. Thats one of my goals for 2011. I don't plan on being fluent in the lauguage, but I at least want to be able to read it and speak it conversationally by the end of this year.
This will be my blog to chronicle my descent into being bilingual, and I fully intend on dragging you down with me. It will be fun, I assure you =^.^=

Off I go!
